Facilitator Training

Flying WILD Facilitators are individuals who have successfully completed the eight-hour Flying WILD Facilitator Training, enabling them to lead the Flying WILD Educator Training. In order to sign-up for a Flying WILD Facilitator training, individuals must first complete a Flying WILD Educator Training or a Project WILD workshop. When receiving training, facilitators establish an agreement with a City Partner organization to provide a certain number of training workshops within the course of a year. Following educator training workshops, facilitators report back to the City Partner to document the number of participants, demographic and contact information of participants, and training evaluation results. Flying WILD Facilitators are a key component of the national Flying WILD network.

Facilitator Handbook

Flying WILD Facilitators can now access the newly revised Facilitator Handbook. This handbook is a guide for conducting Flying WILD educator workshops. It explains Flying WILD's mission and objectives, the goals of Flying WILD workshops, your responsibilities as a facilitator, how to find a workshop site, how to publicize your workshop and what to include in the workshop itself. It discusses workshop materials and equipment, how to involve others including educators and resource specialists as well as suggestions for workshop follow-up. It also examines topics you may want to model and discuss, including cooperative learning and teaching outdoors.

You may use this handbook as a step-by-step guide for planning and conducting your workshops. If you are a ‘seasoned’ facilitator, you may use it to find new ideas to enhance your workshops. The table of contents will help you locate the specific
information you need.
